Are you a very clean, tidy, pleasant, non-smoking female who wants to live on campus and minimize living expenses by sharing a home, but still live somewhere beautiful? If you also enjoy a calm, very friendly, family atmosphere, and you intend to stay for at least a year, then we would love for you to occupy one very clean, beautifully furnished private spare room in our fully furnished and equipped, apartment. This room is available to one occupant only who has 3 good references and who passes a criminal record check at my expense. THE EXCELLENT LOCATION This fully furnished, 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment is located on Larkin Drive near the heart of UBC campus. This home is so centrally located that one can walk to anywhere on campus in about 15 minutes. THE BUILDING The lovely, new, quiet apartment building is only 4 stories high and rests on the side of a slight hill, which slopes towards the sea. It features a keyless entry system as well as an enter-phone at the main entrance with an option to pre-screen your visitors via in-suite cable. It also features convenient, secure bicycle storage rooms. Assigned, covered, secured parking is available, if you require it, for an additional fee. However, one can get by quite nicely without a car in this neighbourhood. THE APARTMENT The bright, south-facing, 2 bedroom apartment is on the ground level; therefore, it has higher ceilings (9 ft) and a large patio that opens directly onto the peaceful and beautifully landscaped inner courtyard, which separates our home from the outer courtyard, the lower courtyard and the QUIET side street. The apartment has cream-colored carpeting, ceramic tile flooring, 2 full bathrooms, and Whirlpool appliances including a large fridge/freezer, stove, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. The fireplace is electric. Hot water is included. Please refer to my photos by clicking the photo icon at the top right corner of this advertisement. THE FURNISHINGS I pay BC Hydro for all the electricity used and I pay Shaw Cable for the High Definition digital TV and Movies (Movie Central and HBO Canada) and for the Shaw Highspeed (up to 7.5 Mbps download speed) internet service. The living room and dining room are fully furnished. The kitchen is open to the rest of the home and has two bar stools for the bar area. The kitchen has a microwave and it is fully equipped; therefore, you need not bring kitchen equipment but you must provide your own supplies and food. The sun room is furnished with comfortable rattan patio furniture. The sunny patio has a cast aluminum patio table and chairs with cushions, a large sun umbrella, a large propane grill and several beautiful flower pots. YOUR ROOM Your bright, peaceful room is south-facing with a large sliding window, which opens onto the gorgeous courtyard. Horizontal blinds cover the window for complete privacy. Your closet has mirrored sliding doors and a shelf above the hanger-rod. A television-cable connection is activated in your room and you have the option of keeping the 32 inch High Definition Sony Bravia television in your room or not. The room also has a telephone connection, which you are responsible for activating if necessary. Your room has its own temperature control thermostat and is tastefully furnished with matching oak Queen-sized sleigh-bed, 9-drawer dresser and mirror, and a 3-drawer bedside table with a 27' Bellevue lamp. The room has wireless internet connectivity as well as a USB cable for more stable internet connectivity. You are responsible for keeping your room and your part of the shared areas clean, dry and tidy. I daily clean and tidy the rest of the apartment myself and we will work out a schedule for you to contribute, in a very small way, to that. A DESK Note that this room does not have a desk; therefore, it suits someone who also has an office. THE SHARED BATHROOM The second full bathroom is partially shared; specifically the cabinet and the extra-large shower stall with sliding glass doors are for your exclusive use -the rest is shared. TRANSLINK BUS SERVICE During the day, the C20 SW Marine Drive bus stops right outside our building every 30 minutes. However, living right on campus means you need not take the bus to get to school or work; therefore you avoid the frustration of those living close to campus who regularly watch full buses driving right past. THE OLD BARN COMMUNITY CENTER ACROSS THE STREET At the Old Barn Community Center are: Bean Around the World coffee bar, a fitness room, a family room, and meeting rooms for parties or programs like yoga, pilates, movie nights...
